(other titles available on our book page)
Bawden trained as an illustrator, book designer
and mural painter at the Design School of the
Royal College of Art from 1922-5 under the tutelage
of Paul Nash. He was a close friend of Eric Ravilious.
Throughout the 1930's he practised as an illustrator,
poster designer and textile and wallpaper designer as
well as teaching at the RCA. In 1933 he was given his
first one-man exhibition at Zwemmers Gallery. Bawden
produced some fine paintings and drawings whilst
serving as an Official WarArtist during WWll in Belgium,
France and the Middle East. Like Ravilious, he was
commissioned to produce several ceramic designs for
Wedgwood.
