1937 cookery book with monthly woodengravings by Ravilious, superb condition with dustjacket,
as well as excellent culinary advice from Ambrose Heath! sold
scarce original printed textile with Garden Implements design for Edinburgh Weavers, 1956,
Ravilious was a leading exponent of wood engraving in the 1920's.
He was taught by Paul Nash at the Royal College of Art and became
a close friend of Edward Bawden. Both artists, together with their
artist wives Tirzah Ravilious and Charlotte Bawden shared a
house at Great Bardfield in Essex. Ravilious became an official
war artist in 1940 and tragically failed to return from an air-sea
rescue mission off Iceland in 1942.
His sensitive and accomplished watercolours, drawings, book
illustrations and ceramic designs for Wedgwood have continued
to influence a generation of British design.
The Imperial War Museum in London organised a major retrospective
We are pleased to have the largest collection of original Ravilious designs
for Wedgwood available for sale.
